CEP AMM Membership Categories and Criteria

AMM offers various types of membership tailored to your stage of career and involvement:

A) Ordinary Member

Fully registered medical practitioners who are:

  • Certified as specialists by appropriate authorities
  • Have a recognised postgraduate or higher qualifications and are good character and conduct
  • Have been testified by three referee, two of whom must be members of the Acedemy
  • Have registered with the National Specialist Register (NSR)

The Council may also admit:

Notwithstanding the criteria above, the Council may admit:

  • Qualified members of the medical professions of at least twenty (20) years standing, engaged in medical practice provided that not more than ten (10) such members shall be admitted in any one (1) financial year.
  • Qualified members of the medical profession holding higher academic or professional qualifications (eg MD, DMedSc, PhD, Board Certification) provided that they have contributed significantly to emergency medicine.
  • Persons without a medical qualification but engaged full time in a medical discipline, provided that such persons shall hold academic or professional qualifications equivalent to a PhD and have contributed significantly to emergency medicine.

B) Associate Member

For those who do not fulfil the Ordinary/ Life membership criteria of the Academy.
Persons in allied professions (Medical Assistant, Nurse, Pharmacist etc.) involved in medical research who are able to further the interest of the Academy.

C) Candidate Member

Open to registered medical practitioners who are undergoing a recognised training programme (Doctor of Emergency Medicine/ Master of Emergency Medicine/ FRCEM).

Candidates are required to attach:

  • Certified true copy of Basic Medical Degree(s)
  • Supporting letter from Supervisor or Dean

Candidate Members may retain membership for the duration of their training.

D) Life Member

Available to all Ordinary and Associate Members except Honorary Fellows. Life Members shall be exempted from payment of annual subscriptions.

Remuneration Structure

  • Oral presentation: RM 500
  • Poster presentation: RM 300
  • Both oral & poster: RM 700 (main author only)

Remuneration is subject to fund availability and capped at RM 5,000 per annum.
